A life long resident of Telford Richard was educated at the Coalbrookdale CE junior school, and the Abraham Darby secondary school Richard also went to Shrewsbury collage to study servicing and repair of motor vehicles, Richard has always been interested in cars,

 

During the 90s, Richard worked for some of the British Touring car teams in a verity of roles from mechanic to Public Relations, in the mid 90s Richard had the chance to test a rally car for one of his friend’s at this time Richard was working as a sales man for Toyota in the west midlands Richard tested his freinds subaru impreza at millbrook proving ground and found that he was able to drive the car faster and understood how to set up the car, this lead richard in to a testing roll for some of the biggest manufactures for their road cars.

 

In 1996 Richard entered the Telford auto club novice road rally the saw and weld with one of his best friends craig jones they had a better second half of the rally where they past several cars and made up a lot of the time they lost on the first selective a very good run finishing 11th over all and third in class after this Richard was asked to test a ex works vauxhall astra as a favor for a friend who had just purchased the car from vauxhall, Richard went to Carlisle airport where the car was being tested after a few initial runs Richard made a few suggestions on the set up and was noticeably quicker, after that day Richard has mixed his every day job with testing competition and production cars, also around this time Richard was asked to do some TV and promotion driving work which he has continued to do so over the last 12 years.

 


In 2006, Richard was asked to help design and test a new in car video recorder for Tsi technologies, where Richard is the sales manager in November of 2007 TSI technologies ltd launched the sdvr125 at Donington park where Richard ferried customers around the circuit in a Subaru sti on loan from Subaru uk, on track at the time was Darren turner in the barwell motorsport Aston martin gt car lapping in a respectable 57 seconds, Richard was lapping the Subaru Impreza sti in a quick  1m 10 sec quite a respectable time for a standard road car,


For 2010, Richard is looking to compete in the Suzuki Swift Sport Cup 2010 and is know looking for partners and sponsors to join the team and support him (see Suzuki swift sport cup) in the mean time Richard Is concentrating on his driver development and driver instruction for the professional driver in defensive and evasive driving techniques and stunt driving.

 

Training

 

I work very hard each day to ensure that I am always improving my fitness level.

My training targets my overall flexibility, strength and physical endurance. I typically train 2 times a day 4/5 times a week.

 

Each day involves:

Stretching / Flexibility work

30 minutes of weights strengthening

10 miles / 45 minutes cycling
